People will now have to pay Rs 5 more for every 3 kms. However, accident insurance of passengers has also been added to the increased fare. The Electric Bus Steering Committee has approved the new fare. The electric bus service is running at a loss. The operation committee of the electric bus in the metropolis had already ensured the determination of the fare on the guidelines of the government. There was a plan to implement with the consent of the meeting after the body elections. On the second day of the election, the steering committee has announced the implementation of the increased fare.

27 AC buses are plying on different routes on the roads of Gorakhpur metropolis. Preparations are on to run 15 more buses soon. There is a plan to run 100 buses on the roads of Gorakhpur in the coming days. Manager of Mahesra Electric Bus Depot, KK Mishra said that on the guidelines of the government, the new fare for electric buses has been fixed and implemented from Friday. The new fare has been fed into the electric ticket machine.

In the beginning of the year, in the meeting chaired by the city commissioner, the manager of city transport had also mentioned about the loss. It was informed that the new rate of fare has been implemented in other cities but it has not been implemented in Gorakhpur due to Khichdi Mela. It was decided in this meeting that the increased rate should be implemented after the civic elections.
