ED took cognizance of the instructions issued by Arvind Kejriwal

ED has taken cognizance of the statement of Delhi Minister Atishi, in which she has said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has sent instructions to her from the agency’s custody to start public welfare works related to water and sewerage. Official sources said the federal agency will investigate to find out whether these instructions of the arrested chief minister are in line with the special court’s order under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) issued to the ED and Kejriwal during their custody period.

ED: Permission to meet for half an hour between 6 to 7 pm

While sending Kejriwal to ED custody till March 28, the court had allowed his wife Sunita Kejriwal and personal assistant Bibhav Kumar to meet him for half an hour every day between 6 to 7 pm. The remaining half an hour of this period has been given to Kejriwal’s lawyers to meet him. Earlier, Water Minister Atishi said in a press conference on Sunday that Kejriwal, from ED custody on Saturday, sent him a document with ‘his instructions’ to resolve public issues related to water and sewerage.

‘Adequate number of water tankers should be deployed’

He said the Chief Minister directed that adequate number of water tankers be deployed in water-scarce areas to strengthen the supply before the summer months. He said that Kejriwal also directed him to issue instructions to the Chief Secretary and other officials in this regard. Fifty-five-year-old Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 after a raid at his official residence in a money laundering case related to Delhi Excise Policy. Sources said the ED will investigate whether proper procedures were followed during these meetings. He said that if any irregularity is found, the concerned special court will be duly informed.
