In Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, on Monday morning, the ED conducted a search operation at three places in and around Kolkata in the teacher recruitment case. This includes the addresses of Bhawanipore and New Alipore. The ED conducted a raid at the residence of Parmita Chattopadhyay, daughter of ‘Kalighattar Kaku’ alias Sujaykrishna Bhadra and son-in-law Devroop Chattopadhyay, at Lee Road, Bhawanipur, one of the accused in the teacher recruitment case. Whereas in New Alipore where the search operation was conducted, it is the office of a company. According to the sources of the investigators, Sujoy was in the role of ‘controller’ in that organization. The third address is Sanjua in Bishnupur-2 block of South 24 Parganas. Investigators’ sources claim that Sujoy is associated with the organization at that address.

ED claims Sujoy used son-in-law to launder black money

The ED, in its charge sheet filed in Kolkata’s City Sessions Court, claimed that Sujoy had also used his daughter and son-in-law to launder black money. According to page number 83 of the 126-page charge sheet, a person named Devroop Chattopadhyay had bought a flat in Bhawanipur, Kolkata for about Rs 2.5 crore on the instructions of Sujaykrishna. It was derived from the name of Sujaykrishna’s daughter Paramita Chatterjee’s husband. According to the chargesheet, Sujaykrishna had received a loan of about Rs 26 lakh from a person named Dibakar Khemka and his subsidiary company to buy the flat. According to the ED, ‘Kalighattar Kaku’ had taken another loan of Rs 45 lakh from a company named ‘Wealth Wizard’. ED claims this organization is under Sujaykrishna. The company has also been accused in the charge sheet.

Sujaykrishna deposited the money borrowed from the company in a government bank

The ED has claimed that Devroop had withdrawn money for the new flat from a private bank account. On the other hand Sujaykrishna had deposited the money borrowed from the company in a government bank. According to the charge sheet, the son-in-law Devroop has accepted that he had got Sujaykrishna’s help to buy the flat.
