The National Investigation Agency (NIA) team on Tuesday raided five cities of Jharkhand and three cities of Bihar against Maoist supporters. Many mobile phones, suspicious documents, digital devices have been found in the raids at a total of 14 locations in both the states. Raids were conducted in Jharkhand’s Ranchi, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih and Ramgarh. Whereas, raids were conducted at six locations in Khagaria, Gaya and Aurangabad in Bihar.
The office of Anti-Displacement Jan Vikas Andolan located at Morhabadi Saraitand, Ranchi was also investigated. While raids were conducted at four places in Bokaro. The first raid took place at 5:00 am on Tuesday morning at 5:00 a.m. at Sanjay Turi’s house in Nishan Haat slum along with the residence (HMD-50D) of Bacha Singh, Central General Secretary of Mazdoor Sangathan Samiti, Bokaro Thermal Nishan Haat and the residence (HMD-36A) of Nageshwar Mahto.
During the search of Bacha Singh’s residence, his mobile phone, union banners, posters etc. were seized. The second team of NIA kept waiting for two hours as the residence of Nageshwar Mahato, a member of the committee, was locked. When he did not come, the lock of the house was broken in the presence of the magistrate and the investigation was done. The NIA team seized two bank passbooks and pamphlets, diaries and papers of his wife and daughter from the residence of Nageshwar Mahato.
The third team raided the residence of Sanjay Turi, the local branch treasurer of the union. A mobile phone, pamphlet, flag and papers were seized from his house. The fourth team also raided the house of Anil Hansda, an Iyer resident of Mahuatand.
Efforts to revive CPI Maoists: According to NIA officials, supporters and ground workers of CPI Maoist are again trying to revive and spread the idea of Maoists these days. Due to this the raid was done. There are indications about the suspects whose houses were also searched, that they are associated with Politburo members and Central Committee members of the Naxalite organization.
