ED raided the Food Minister’s residence in Michael Nagar at around 6 am on Thursday. ED officials reached Rathin’s house in 5 vehicles.

The ED is probing allegations that Rathin Ghosh and his associates had taken bribes from candidates in exchange for jobs. The raid continues. No one has been arrested yet. It is noteworthy that Rathin Ghosh was earlier the President of Madhyamgram Municipal Corporation. Then he won Madhyamgram assembly seat in 2011. Between 2014 and 2018, there have been complaints of recruitment corruption in various municipalities of the state including Madhyamgram. According to ED sources, Rathin Ghosh’s name came up after the ED searched the company of Ayan Sheel, who was involved in the recruitment process. Ayan Sheel is currently in custody. Documents found in his office reveal transactions with various persons.
Search operation continues at other 12 places
Not only at Rathin’s house, the Central Investigation Agency has raided a total of 12 places including Baranagar, Salt Lake with 10 to 12 teams. Apart from this, a team of ED has also reached the house of Baranagar Municipality President Aparna Mouliki. ED has raided the house of former Titagarh Town Chairman Prashant Chaudhary. He was removed after a tenure of 12 years when the general elections end in 2022. According to ED sources, Rathin’s name was mentioned in the documents seized from the house of Ayan Sheel, accused in the recruitment corruption case. Earlier on June 7, ED had raided a total of 14 municipalities and collected documents related to the recruitment corruption case.
