ED interrogated former Ranchi DC Chhavi Ranjan for about 10 hours, raided PPS of CM’s press advisor

Jharkhand News: Enforcement Directorate interrogated former DC Chhavi Ranjan of Ranchi for about 10 hours. In the land scam case, IAS officer Chhavi Ranjan reached the ED office at 10.32 am on Monday after receiving summons on Monday. Journalists asked him questions near the ED office gate. But he kept sitting in the car and went inside without answering. After this the ED officials started questioning him. For the third time in the land scam case, ED has summoned former Ranchi DC Chhavi Ranjan and called him for questioning. Chhavi Ranjan came out after questioning at 8.41 pm. On the other hand, ED had arrested Badgai’s revenue sub-inspector Bhanu Pratap, Afsar Ali alias Afsu, Imtiaz Ahmed, Pradeep Bagchi, Mohd Saddam Hussain, Talha Khan and Fayaz Khan. He was taken to the court from the ED office at 11.20 am.

ED raids residence of PPS Uday Shankar, Press Advisor to Chief Minister

During the face-to-face interrogation of the arrested accused, former Ranchi DC Chhavi Ranjan tried to avoid everything. Despite this, by getting entangled in some questions, he changed his role from a suspect to a believer. He termed the allegations leveled by Bargain Zonal Officer Manoj Kumar as wrong. At the same time, tried to hold the officials of the zone guilty for the rigging of the land of Badgai zone. The interrogation, which started at 10:32 am on Monday, continued till late evening. The then Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi Chhavi Ranjan had reached the ED office before time. Here on Monday, the ED raided the residence of Chief Minister’s Press Advisor Abhishek Srivastava alias Pintu’s PPS Uday Shankar at Doranda in connection with the purchase and sale of land by forgery in documents.

First of all, inquiries were made regarding the land occupied by the army.

The ED first asked him questions related to his role in the purchase and sale of land occupied by the army. After this, he was asked about the allegations leveled against him by Manoj Kumar, Circle Officer of Bargai. CO Manoj Kumar had told ED during interrogation that he had doubt on the documents submitted by Pradeep Bagchi to the Zonal Office. But the report was sent in favor of Pradeep Bagchi after the then Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan threatened him with heavy pressure and punishment. After this the land was registered. Chhavi Ranjan denied these allegations and blamed the employees including the CO in the sale and purchase of army land. However, he got entangled in the ED’s questions during the face-to-face interrogation of the accused arrested in connection with the purchase and sale of army-occupied land by forging documents. By evasiveness in answering some questions and keeping silence in some, he changed his suspicious role in this whole episode to a sure one.

ED raided on April 13 and arrested seven

On April 13, the ED raided 21 locations of 18 people, including Chhavi Ranjan, in connection with the purchase and sale of land occupied by the army by falsifying documents. In this scope, the names of Manoj Kumar, Revenue Officer of Badgai, Bhanu Pratap, the revenue employee and Pradeep Bagi, who became the owner of the land with fake documents, were included. Evidence was found from the documents found in the raid that a big gang is active in the purchase and sale of land here. This includes some builders and big businessmen of the state. This gang makes its people the owners of the land by forging the documents. After that the land is sold with the help of these owners and the land brokers. Government officials have an important role in this whole process. During the raid, questions and answers prepared from Chhavi Ranjan’s mobile were found. Before the ED action started, Chhavi Ranjan had predicted that he might also be questioned. In view of this, he had written down the possible questions and answers to be asked by ED. However, his mock drill did not work during today’s interrogation.

Remand period of six extended, Fayaz sent to jail

The ED presented the seven accused in the PMLA court at the end of the remand period. Requested to send Fayaz Khan to judicial custody after completion of interrogation. Also requested to extend the remand period of Bhanu Pratap, Pradeep Baghi, Afsar Ali, Saddam Hussain, Talha Khan and Imtiaz Ahmed. The ED told the need for further questioning of these accused in the matter of misappropriation of land. The court extended the remand period of these six accused for three days after hearing the plea of ​​ED. The ED had earlier taken these accused on remand for four days. For the second time taken on remand for five days. For the third time, six accused were taken on remand for three days.

Uday Shankar’s name was taken by the accused arrested in land purchase and sale case, raided

Here, the Enforcement Directorate raided the house of PPS Uday Shankar, posted in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, at Doranda in connection with the purchase and sale of land by forgery in documents. During this, documents related to purchase, sale and investment of land have been seized. The ED has taken this action on the basis of the information obtained from the interrogation of the seven accused arrested in the case of land embezzlement. During interrogation, the accused accepted that Uday Shankar used to provide administrative help when there was a problem during the purchase and sale of land. With his cooperation, the problems in the purchase, sale and mutation of land were removed. It is noteworthy that Uday Shankar has been posted as PPS in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat for the last seven-eight years. He is a 1998 batch PA cadre officer. Under the internal arrangement of the work done by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Uday Shankar was instructed to do it along with Press Advisor Abhishek Srivastava alias Pintu. In the light of this instruction, he used to work according to the orders of Pintu. During the raid, ED officials questioned Uday Shankar in connection with giving benefits to land traders and getting benefited in return.
