In two separate actions taken by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Bihar on Wednesday, property worth about Rs.5 crore has been seized. The first case is of Shishir Kumar, the then Assistant Engineer of Vaishali Zilla Parishad, while the second case is of Akhilesh Yadav, a criminal of Gopalpur PS. ED has taken this action on both under the Money Laundering Act.
Engineer Shishir Kumar illegally erected property worth 2.71 crores
In a press release issued by the ED, it has been said that while working on the post of Assistant Engineer in Vaishali Zilla Parishad, Shishir Kumar had illegally acquired movable and immovable property worth Rs 2.71 crore by misusing his position. The Economic Offenses Unit had lodged an FIR against him in this matter. On the basis of which the Enforcement Directorate gathered complete information about Shishir Kumar and executed the action.

During interrogation, Shishir Kumar could not tell how he collected such immense wealth. The Economic Offenses Unit had made Shishir Kumar and his wife Vinita Kumari accused in the case of acquiring illegal property. According to the information of the Enforcement Directorate, a total of 23 properties collected by Shishir Kumar have been confiscated. These have immovable assets worth Rs 2.57 crore and movable assets worth Rs 14.24 lakh. This property was bought in the name of Shishir, Vinita as well as sons and daughters.
Assets worth Rs 2.08 crore seized from Bhagalpur criminal
The second action was taken against a criminal named Akhilesh Yadav. An FIR was lodged against Akhilesh Yadav at Gopalpur police station in Bhagalpur. Along with the Arms Act, cases of criminal conspiracy, murder, attempt to murder, dacoity, bank robbery were registered against the accused. On the basis of this FIR, the Enforcement Directorate took forward its investigation. After getting concrete information, 29 immovable properties worth Rs 2.08 crore of Akhilesh Yadav have been seized on Wednesday.
