National Film Award winning director Rajkumar Hirani wanted to work with Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan right from his first film Munnabhai MBBS, but Shahrukh Khan’s refusal continued from Munnabhai to 3 Idiots. Ultimately, it was only after two decades that the script of Dunky gave Rajkumar the opportunity to work with him. The wishes of both Hirani and the audience were fulfilled, which brought together the pair of brilliant director Rajkumar Hirani and charismatic actor Shahrukh Khan. Two very special names of cinema were associated with the film, hence the expectations were also high. Rajkumar Hirani’s films contain issues along with entertainment. This time too he has come up with the issue, but he has not been able to do justice to it, the matter has remained superficial in the writing, due to which the struggle and sorrow of the characters does not touch you in the way which is the biggest attraction of a film. There is a need. Shahrukh Khan definitely tries to handle the film with his acting and charm, but in the end it remains average.

The story of the reality of those who dream of a good life abroad

The story of the film is about three friends Manu (Taapsee Pannu), Baggu (Vikram Kochhar) and Balli (Anil Grover) living in Laltu, Punjab, who are struggling with financial crisis and they cannot find the answer to all their problems by getting any job in England. Is visible in. Every day he keeps searching for some legal means to reach there, but due to his poverty and low education, he is not able to get a visa. Hardy (Shahrukh Khan) enters his life. He also gets busy in fulfilling their dream and through the illegal and risky route of Donkey, he takes them to their dream destination England, but that is not the destination. Everyone soon understands this, but it is too late. Will they ever be able to return to their homes? This is the story ahead.

Advantages and disadvantages of the film

The story of the film tells the story of people who dream of a good life in foreign countries. Even before this, the story of illegal infiltration from abroad has been shown in films and web series, but this film also brings to the fore the issue of how the visa system has done injustice to the poor and uneducated people. Because of which they often try to reach big countries illegally for employment. The screenplay of the film has not been able to convey this effectively, due to which one cannot connect with the struggle of the characters.

The story is told in a time frame of 25 years. The film is told in flashback from 1995 till now, due to which the twists and turns of the story do not surprise. It is known which paths the story will take. In this film of Rajkumar Hirani, along with emotion, humor is also present, but it makes us laugh only in bits and pieces. From the story to the characters of the film, it has remained superficial. While every character in Rajkumar Hirani’s films is special, here none of the characters stay with you. The story on the difficult path of Donkey comes in the second half, but even that fails to raise the question in the mind whether their journey will be completed, which shows the flaw in the screenplay. The songs and music of the film are impressive and meaningful, which strengthen the story and characters. The cinematography of the film does justice to the story. Dialogues are average.

Great acting by Shahrukh and Vicky Kaushal

Talking about acting, Shahrukh Khan was seen in action style in Pathan and Jawan released this year, but in Donkey he is seen in his popular image. One who loves. Laughs, makes laugh. He cries and makes others cry. Shahrukh has tried hard to hide the flaws of the film with his acting and charm. Taapsee Pannu does justice to her role. Vikram Kochhar and Anil Grover have done a good job in the sporting cast while Vicky Kaushal has left a mark even in a small role. The work of rest of the actors including Boman Irani is also good.
