The solar power panel installed at a cost of lakhs to get rid of the electricity problem at Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital in Dumka is lying idle today due to lack of maintenance. The situation is such that when there is no line, darkness is removed by running a generator. Whereas to overcome the electricity problem, solar power panels were installed by JAREDA Agency in 2015 on departmental instructions. The hospital got relief from the problem of lighting for a few days. But due to lack of maintenance the power panel became useless. Now all that remains is to see. It is said that due to battery failure the hospital is not able to avail its benefits. In such a situation, the hospital is now completely dependent on the supply of the electricity department. However, under alternative arrangements, generator and inverter facilities are available in some wards. But if there is power failure for a long time, the problem of lighting starts. Then the generator remains the final conclusion. With the solar power plant running, there would be no problem of electricity nor would the management have to think about alternative arrangements. After the installation of the plant, the electricity problem was solved. No one could even understand when there was a power failure. At present, when electricity goes off, there is darkness in those wards which do not have the facility of inverter. Until the generator is started, the patient and his family members face a lot of trouble. For some time its effect is seen in the treatment of patients in the ward. At present, there is no facility of inverter in Surgery Ward, Medicine Ward, ICU Ward, OBS Gynecology and Ortho Ward.
Roof top solar power system installed in Mofussil police station dead
To get rid of the electricity problem in Dumka, a solar power plant was installed in Mofussil police station in 2018-19 on departmental instructions. With its commissioning, the policemen got relief from the electricity crisis. But due to lack of maintenance the solar system is lying idle. The situation is that now the battery capacity has also reduced. Solar power system remains only in name. In case of power outage in the police station, inverter facility is available as an alternative arrangement. That too is limited to office premises only. Policemen face a lot of trouble due to power failure.
