Dumka: New year welcomed with devotional hymns, crowd gathered to worship in temples.

In Dumka district, people celebrated the first day of the new year with worship, prayers, havan etc. in religious places and performed bhajans and kirtans. There was a steady flow of devotees at the city’s Dharmasthan, Shivpahar, Gilaneshwarnath, Gopal Temple, Shri Satyanarayan Temple, Barabandh Thakurbari, Dinanath Temple Dangalpada and Ashutosh Temple Kanupada. The ongoing Ashtayam in Dharmasthan and Gilaneshwar temple ended with Purnahuti in Havan Yagya. On the first day of the year, devotees from far and wide had come to worship at the Danith temple of Kathikund. However, due to the drivers being on strike, the crowd was less. The local police force was ready regarding security. Everyone wished each other a Happy New Year. On the occasion of New Year, an atmosphere of picnic and fun was seen among the youth across the block.

Thousands of people took a dip in Tatloi hot water pond.

There was a steady stream of people from early morning to take bath and worship at the hot water pond Tatloi, Sirsanath temple and Chutonath temple in Jama. Tatloi is a hot water spring located three kilometers north-east of Barapalasi on the Dumka-Bhagalpur main road. In autumn people come here to take bath in the hot water. People especially from Jarmundi, Jama, Ramgarh and Dumka blocks come here. Due to the construction of the bridge on Bhurbhuri river, people are coming from far away places. On the other hand, on the occasion of New Year, hundreds of people came to Chutonath Temple and Sirsanath Temple to offer prayers and returned home in the evening after having a picnic in the adjacent areas.
