Dumka: 80 thousand devotees offered water to Basukinath on Kartik Purnima.

There was a crowd of devotees in Baba Faujdarinath Darbar on Monday on Kartik Purnima. The process of water offering started from morning itself. Kept going till evening. According to the temple management, 80 thousand Shiva devotees offered water to Bholenath. Devotees prayed for happiness and prosperity by worshiping Baba Faujdarinath. On the auspicious occasion of Purnima, the temple complex was resounding with the sound of conch shells and bells in the temple premises from 7 o’clock in the evening till 2.30 in the day. Along with reciting Vedic mantras, puja was performed by the pundits in the Shodashopachar method. Devotees prayed to Lord Bholenath and prayed for happiness and prosperity. There was a steady stream of devotees in the temple premises since 3 o’clock in the morning. After the official puja, the gate of the temple sanctum sanctorum was opened for the devotees. Devotees took a dip of faith in Shivaganga. Pandit Sudhakar Jha told that whoever worships Bholenath with true heart and faith on the day of Purnima, his wishes are fulfilled. The temple complex echoed with the slogan of Har-Har Mahadev. Crowds of devotees from various districts of Bihar, Bengal and Jharkhand were seen here. Devotees queued up and performed the puja. A health camp was organized for health checkup at the temple exit gate.

Attainment of salvation through donation and bath on Sharad Purnima

Kartik Purnima has great importance in Sanatan Dharma. Donations made on the auspicious occasion of full moon and bathing in a river or a holy lake bring virtue. With this belief, devotees donated money to the Brahmins in the temple premises. Pundits told that by worshiping Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi on the day of Kartik Purnima, all the wishes are fulfilled. Shiva devotees also performed many types of religious rituals in the temple premises. Devotees also performed the Mundan Sanskar in the temple premises. Before sunrise, male and female devotees took bath in the river and pond and prayed for their worshipable God and prayed for salvation.

SP took stock of the security arrangements

Superintendent of Police Pitambar Singh Kherwar worshiped Baba Faujdarinath and wished him well on Kartik Purnima. He directed the officials to control the crowd of devotees in the temple premises and conduct the water offering smoothly. With the help of CCTV from the temple office, the officials kept an eye on the arrangements of the temple. On the occasion, Jarmundi SDPO Amod Narayan Singh, temple in-charge cum administrator Ashish Kumar, CO Ashutosh Ojha, police inspector Dayanand Sah, ASI Yogendra Sharma etc. were engaged for the convenience of the devotees in the temple.
