Kanpur: A doctor posted at Kanpur’s GSVM Medical College has designed a needle that delivers medicine to the inner layers of the retina. The needle that was made till now could not reach the medicine to those layers. The patent certificate has been issued for this device of GSVM Medical College’s Ophthalmologist Dr. Parvez Khan. He named it ‘Super Choroidal Needle’. This will prove effective in the treatment of incurable diseases like night blindness.

The treatment of diseases like night blindness was difficult till now because there was no needle to deliver the medicine to the layer of the retina where the medicine should go. Talking to the media, Dr.Parvez Khan told that after five years of verification from institutions of the country and the world, his invention Super Choroidal Needle 500-900 Micro Unit ie (Micro Needle for Ocular Drug Delivery) has been granted international patent for 20 years. has been provided. Medical College Principal Dr. Sanjay Kala has expressed happiness on this.

Experiments done on five thousand patients

Dr. Parvez Khan told that it was prepared in 2018. Have used it on more than 5000 patients. By sending needles from 30 countries, it was asked that what is the difference between them and the needles made in Kanpur. Along with this, everyone was also told the difference. I selected 15 patients, who could not see anything, as part of the research on the treatment of night blindness.

America made three needles but could not enter

Dr. Parvez Khan told that the patent was applied in 2018. After investigation in institutions around the world, three similar needles were found in America. It was not possible for them to reach the inner part of the retina. After resolving all the doubts, the process was completed in five years. Then the patent was given. This needle will be presented in Delhi on 26th August.
