TRAI News: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is working on fixing the flaws in its Do-Not-Disturb (DND) app to help mobile phone customers immediately detect unwanted calls and messages. TRAI Secretary V Raghunandan said in a Truecaller program that the telecom regulator is working to fix the technical glitches in the DND app to solve the technical problems faced by consumers. Raghunandan said, we have associated with us an agency which is removing the flaws of this app. There were issues with some Android devices which have been resolved to a large extent. We are trying to make this app compatible with all Android phones by March. Flaws are becoming visible in TRAI’s DND app when mobile customers try to flag spam calls and SMS coming on their phones.
However, TRAI Secretary said that with the improvements in this app, the number of spam calls and SMS on customers’ phones has reduced significantly. However, iPhone maker Apple had refused to give the DND app access to call details. But Raghunandan said that efforts are on to adapt this app to Apple’s iOS devices also. He said that no single agency, whether public or private, can take care of all aspects of security in the country. In such a situation, there is a need to adopt a collaborative approach with strategic public-private partnership.
On this occasion, Ellen Mamedi, CEO and co-founder of Truecaller, an app that helps in identifying unknown phone numbers, said that 27 crore people in India are using this app and 50 lakh spam calls are made through the platform every day in the country. Information is received. Along with this, he said that now the challenge has come to identify the irregularities done through cloning or manipulation of voice. He said that earlier elderly people were the biggest victims of digital fraud, but now younger people are also becoming its victims.
