The writer-director revealed that Dimple was not the first choice for the role of Savitri. The filmmaker shared that the entire family was young and they thought of Tabu for the role.

The idea of Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo came to the mind of the director many years ago. Homi shared that he thought of it as a story about a family, where the women of the family are running an illegal hideous business and the men of the family have no idea about it. They really judge women to lead boring life and they work abroad instead. The story of the show started as a fictional kind of idea.

Homi told Hindustan Times, “Earlier, the whole family was young and I was thinking of casting Tabu in it. Then later, I believe every project has its own destiny, so as long as it’s time to start Getting ready… till Covid-19 happened. Radhika Madan in Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo, Isha Talwar, Angira Dhar, Deepak Dobriyal, Monica Dogra and Naseeruddin Shah are also there.

The writer-director also said that it was like working with the veteran actor again. This is his fifth project after Being Cyrus (2005), Cocktail (2012), Finding Fanny (2014) and Angrezi Medium (2020).
