Digital tickets for metro, bus and auto will be available on WhatsApp, know in which city the system is being launched.

WhatsApp Digital Ticket: Delhi government’s Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot said that it will launch its WhatsApp-based bus ticketing system in a few months and the testing of this project will start next month. Gehlot said that apart from this, a single-trip ticket system will also come soon through which people will be able to book auto, metro tickets and bus tickets. Gehlot said, we have already tied up with WhatsApp for this initiative. This will include only digital currency. Either you buy NCMC card or digital ticket. This will also give a boost to digital currency. The government had recently said in a statement that an estimated 40 lakh people travel by buses in Delhi and this number is expected to increase to 60 lakh by 2025.

4 thousand DTC and 3 thousand cluster buses included

The minister said that the digital ticket system will help in preventing manipulation commonly seen in cash transactions. Officials had earlier said that the WhatsApp-based bus ticketing system would be similar to the one used for Delhi Metro. Gehlot said that the WhatsApp bus ticket system should be started in two months. He said, “We plan to start it on an experimental basis around January 15 and after that it will take us a month or two to launch it completely. There are more than 7 thousand government buses in Delhi, including 4 thousand DTC and 3 thousand Cluster buses are included.

Also planning to release a separate app for ticket booking

Kailash Gehlot said that the government is also planning to release a separate app for single journey ticket booking. The minister said, the same ticket will be used for traveling in auto, metro and bus. He said, the central government is emphasizing on Open Network of Digital Commerce (ONDC). The aggregators who will be on the ONDC platform will definitely be a part of our app. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) already has a WhatsApp based ticketing system. The service was launched in May this year and was later expanded to all corridors of the rapid transit system, including the Gurugram Rapid Metro.
