Digi travel facility will start at 14 other airports this year

The government will launch Digi Yatra facility at 14 more airports in the coming months. There is also a plan to provide this facility to foreign citizens also. The officials said this. Currently, Digi Yatra is available at 13 airports for domestic passengers. Ministry of Civil Aviation has started digital facility for passengers through Digi Yatra platform. Under this, contactless, seamless movement of passengers is provided at various check points of airports based on Facial Recognition Technology (FRT). Officials said on Tuesday that there are now plans to introduce this initiative at 14 airports including Chennai, Bhubaneswar and Coimbatore.

Other airports are Dabolim, Mopa Goa, Indore, Bagdogra, Chandigarh, Ranchi, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, Srinagar and Visakhapatnam. Apart from this, Digi Yatra facility will be started at 11 more airports in 2025. Additionally, the government intends to launch e-passport based enrolment, which will also allow foreign nationals to avail the Digi Yatra facility, officials said.

Citing available data, officials also said that there has been a significant increase in the total number of Digi Yatra app users during the period from December, 2022 to November, 2023. According to an analysis, the app has also helped reduce processing time for passengers at entry gates and boarding gates.
