Seeing this liveliness of Ramlila, every spectator present in the packed PGI auditorium of Lucknow must have reached the same period of Ramayana. What was seen on the stage was not artificial but happened for real. The concept, writing and direction of Sandeep Yadav, who has proven his acting prowess on OTT and the big screen, was so amazing that no viewer was able to believe that the actors acting in the Ramleela they were getting excited about right now were professionals. On the occasion of Dussehra, Ramleela was staged by a joint presentation of PGI Faculty Club and Performing Arts and Super Skills School (PS3). Doctors played various characters of Ramayana on stage. These doctors, acting for the first time, had prepared their respective characters in less than a month’s preparation. The concept, dialogue and writing of this Ramlila based on Ramayana written by Tulsidas was by Sandeep Yadav. Co-directed by Preeti Chauhan. Dr. Chetna and Dr. Brajesh Dr. Anant gave concrete shape to the idea of staging Ramlila.
Most of the doctors said that initially they were wondering how they would be able to act on stage, but people kept joining and a caravan was formed. Children also played roles in this Ramlila. The director of PGI was also one of the hundreds of spectators who kept watching this Ramlila which lasted for three hours without any pause.
Sandeep Yadav told ‘BollywoodWallah’ that “I was finding it very difficult to do Ramlila in the beginning, because all these people were not actors but doctors. The same question was coming again and again that how will I make them do Ramlila. This is Prabhu Ram It was due to the grace of everyone that seeing the devotion inside everyone felt that there was dedication. How the doctors playing the role of Ramlila found time for rehearsal is also no less interesting.
‘Ashram’ fame Sandeep Yadav tells that all the doctors were sometimes busy in operations, however, they used to come to rehearsals as soon as they got the chance. He would do his scene and then go away. Got everyone’s support, everyone gave me (Sandeep Yadav) respect as a teacher. Listened to me and even scolded me. Ultimately, we prepared the musical Ramlila in just 25 days of rehearsal. We performed the entire Ramlila in three hours. Music and singing were everything in this. This Ramlila was also telecast in many countries of the world through YouTube.
