Dhanbad: Villagers stopped OB from being dropped, fatal attack on PO, scuffle with police

Jorapokhar (Dhanbad): Villagers protested against dumping of over burden (OB) of Ex Patch Outsourcing Project of BCCL’s Sudamdih ASP Colliery near Mohlabani settlement. During this time, Sudamdih ASP Colliery PO Anil Kumar, who reached the spot, was fatally attacked. He got injured. When Sudamdih police station in-charge Pradeep Rana arrived with his team, the angry villagers also clashed with the police. During this time, some youth also pointed their baton at the police station in-charge. After that, police from all the police stations of the area were called. The villagers said that the place where OB is being dumped is their property, whereas the management is claiming that the said land belongs to BCCL. Complaints have been lodged from both sides in Sudamdih police station.

How did the incident happen?

On Saturday, the management was dozing a land near Mohlabani colony and getting OB dropped on it. Only a Volvo had been dumped and the villagers united and started protesting. After receiving the information, PO Anil Kumar arrived and tried to convince the villagers. Meanwhile, the Raiyats got angry and beat the PO, in which the PO got injured. When he started leaving, stones were also pelted at his vehicle. Police reached the spot and sent the injured PO to Chasnala Health Center for treatment. The police have detained a youth named Chetan Mahato from the spot.

PO filed complaint against villagers

Here, PO Anil Kumar along with IJ area officials reached Sudamdih police station and complained about villagers assaulting them and pelting stones at their vehicle. Accusations have been leveled against Chetan Mahato, Vijay Mahato, Chandan Lal. It is said that people have stones near their eyes. AGM Sushil Kumar, Pradeep Rarghote, BK Pandey, Sanjay Kumar, GC Marai, BT Dey, Abhishek Jha, Hansraj Panjwani, Bharat Vaishnavi, Sandeep Kumar, RK Rai, Amit Kumar, Nitai Mandal etc. were with him in the police station.

Rural woman applied and made many allegations against PO

On behalf of the villagers, a woman has complained to Sudamdih police station accusing PO Anil Kumar of pushing and behaving rudely. In this regard, Sudamdih police station in-charge Pradeep Rana said that complaints have been received from both sides. A young man named Chetan Mahato has been detained. Further action will be taken after investigation.
