Six people died and seven were injured in five road accidents at different places in Dhanbad district in the last two days. Two people riding a bike died in a road accident on Sunday near Golai between Mahuda turn and Telmachho on four lane Dhanbad-Bokaro main road. One of them died on the spot, while one seriously injured person died in BGH. The deceased include Suresh Mahato (40) and Pradeep Mahato (61). Both were residents of Jorapokhar. It is said that both of them were going from their home in Jorapokhar to Dugda’s relative’s place on bike number JH10J/0337. Meanwhile, at around 1:30 pm on Sunday afternoon, I took petrol in my bike at Mahuda Mod petrol pump and took four lane near Mahuda Mod Shiv Temple. At the same time, a pickup van going towards Bokaro at high speed hit it from behind and ran away. In the accident, Suresh Mahato died on the spot, while Pradeep Mahato was seriously injured. The local people hurriedly sent him to BGH Bokaro by ambulance. He also died as soon as he reached the hospital. After receiving the information, Mahuda police reached the spot and informed all the police stations of Bokaro district through telephone about the said pickup van. Within a short time, that Bolero pickup van JH10CH/8979 was caught by the Bokaro Jharia OP police of Dugda. From where Mahuda police brought the van to Mahuda police station. The relatives of the deceased reached Mahuda police station late in the evening with both the bodies. Here the police did the Panchnama of the dead bodies and sent them to Dhanbad for post-mortem. The deceased Suresh Mahato was a security guard of SIS company, while Pradeep Mahato had retired from TISCO Jamadoba.

The first incident occurred near Madayidih turn at 8 pm on Sunday night, where Rati Turi (62), resident of Madayidih, died after being hit by an unknown vehicle. Villagers told that on Sunday, after playing Dhak from Chhath Ghat, Rati had gone to the shop located on GT Road in front of his house to drink tea. While returning, he was seriously injured after being hit by an unknown vehicle. In his injured condition, he was taken to CHC Sahobahiyar with the help of villagers, where doctors declared him dead. The second incident took place at Kandidih turn on GT Road at 10 pm. Here Jamuna Rai (32), resident of Sokha Tola Kabirdih, was crossing the road on foot near Kandidih turn. During that time, he got seriously injured after being hit by an unknown vehicle. By the time the NHAI ambulance came to pick up the injured at ten o’clock in the night, he was dead. The family members conducted the post-mortem and cremated the body.
