Patna Nagar Nigam Property Tax: Patna Municipal Corporation is working in mission mode to collect property tax and garbage charges till the financial year 2023-24. Notice has been issued to confiscate the properties of a total of 220 big defaulters. A total of Rs 5.22 crore is outstanding on them. Notice was issued to all of them by the corporation three months ago. Action will be taken against them from 5th to 20th February. In this regard, the corporation has requested the DM to provide police force.
At the same time, Patna Municipal Corporation has also issued notices to a total of 792 property owners with outstanding dues ranging from Rs 50 thousand to Rs 1 lakh. A total of Rs 5.11 crore is outstanding on them. Action will also be taken against all these property holders if they do not pay the tax within 15 days of the notice being issued.
Property will be sealed if property tax is not paid
As per the Bihar Municipal Act, 2007 and the Bihar Municipal Property Tax (Assessment, Collection and Recovery) Rules, 2013 notified thereunder and the Patna Municipal Corporation Tax and Non-Tax Revenue Collection Regulations, 2013, all property and vacant land owners are required to pay taxes on their property. It is mandatory to get property tax assessed and paid on time. If this is not done then various actions will be taken as per the said Act, rules and regulations. It has provisions for issuing demand letters, stopping services, seizure and sale of movable property, attachment and sale of immovable property, attachment of bank accounts etc.
Collection of Rs 2.25 crore in a week
To collect property tax and garbage fee, Patna Municipal Corporation is collecting tax by visiting all the wards every day from 7 am to 11 am under Mission 7 to 11. 58 teams have been formed for this. In the first week of the mission from January 23 to 29, about Rs 2.25 crore of property tax and garbage fee was collected.
Toll free number 155304 issued for tax assessment
Under Mission 7 to 11, along with property tax collection, tax assessment of new property is also being done on spot by the team of Patna Municipal Corporation. For this, city residents can book their slot by calling toll free number 155304. After the slot is booked, the team of Patna Municipal Corporation will go to their house and establishment and complete the work of tax assessment/reassessment.
