Dengue continues to wreak havoc in Bihar even during this festive season. The number of patients is increasing in various cities of the state including Patna. On Tuesday itself, 250 new patients infected with dengue were found, after which the total number of dengue infected people this year has reached around 13 thousand 500. Maximum 155 cases have been found in Patna in the last 24 hours. After this, maximum cases have been found in Bhagalpur, Nalanda and Siwan.

According to the latest data released by the Health Department, the total number of dengue patients found so far this year in the state has reached 13,481. About 50 percent of these 6746 patients have appeared in the month of October only. If we talk about the figures of the last 24 hours, a total of 250 patients have been found. Out of which, 150 patients have been found in Patna, 13 in Nalanda, 13 in Bhagalpur, 12 in Siwan and 11 in Munger.

Cases are not decreasing even after the departure of monsoon

Mosquito-borne diseases like dengue are more likely to spread during the rainy season. But this year almost two weeks have passed since the effect of monsoon ended. But the dengue outbreak is showing no signs of decreasing. This year, about 50 percent of dengue cases have occurred in the month of October only. Anti-larva spraying and fogging is being done continuously by the administration and corporation in all the cities of the state. But despite this the cases are not decreasing.

Here, patients recovering from dengue are also facing problems. Along with weakness, side effects in kidney, liver and lungs are being seen in many patients. There are many patients who, after recovering from dengue, are reaching the hospital with some kind of problem. Most of the patients with mild symptoms are seeing weakness, loss of appetite and digestive system problems.

Doctors say that awareness is the only protection from dengue. Because there is no special vaccine or medicine for this disease. In this also the symptoms are treated like Covid. In such a situation, treatment should be done only after consulting a specialist doctor. In this the patient needs adequate rest. Apart from this, fluids should be taken in large quantities. The most reliable test to detect dengue is the ELISA test.
