Dengue In Bihar: Know this before sending children to school-college, health advisory issued regarding dengue

The increasing cases of dengue in Bihar have increased the concern of the administration. Meanwhile, DDC Tanay Sultania held a meeting on Saturday regarding the arrangements being made to control the increasing spread of dengue in the capital Patna. After this meeting, the district administration has issued an advisory to protect children and students from dengue. In the advisory given to the headmasters of all government and non-government schools and principals of colleges, they have been asked to ensure that students come to school wearing full sleeve shirts and full pants.

Instructions to keep rapid response team active

Health experts, medical superintendents/representatives of various hospitals, representatives of blood banks and others participated in this meeting conducted by DDC Tanay Sultania. In the meeting, DDC directed the Civil Surgeon to keep Rapid Response Team active in all primary health centres, community health centres, referral hospitals and urban primary health centers for prevention of dengue. Also, upon identification of a dengue patient, regular fogging and spraying of Temiphos was asked to be done in the affected area. Executive officers of all municipal bodies were also asked to ensure all kinds of preventive and vigilance action. To protect school and college students from dengue outbreak, he said that health advisory should be followed in all government and private schools and all colleges. Students should be encouraged to use clothing/dress that covers the entire body.

Dengue situation likely to remain the same till October

DDC Tanay Sultania said that the recovery rate of dengue patients is good. People need not panic about this. A blood bank cell has been formed to ensure easy availability of platelets in the management of dengue infection. Magistrates are being deployed to coordinate with the directors/superintendents of major medical institutions and the nodal officers nominated for blood banks. The processing fee for patients admitted to private hospitals by government blood centers is fixed. In case of complaint of taking more than the prescribed amount, action will be taken against the culprits as per rules. Medical experts told in the meeting that the situation of dengue is likely to remain the same till the month of October. After this the situation will improve.

Arrangement of free tests in government hospitals

DDC said that in PMCH, NMCH, IGIMS, AIIMS, RIRM Agamkua and New Gardiner Road Hospital, the system of free testing with Elisa based NSOne and LGM insect is available. People should not get misled by brokers. 34 beds have been kept dedicated in PMCH, 30 beds in NMCH and 10 beds in Guru Gobind Singh Hospital, Patna City. Five beds each have been reserved in all the sub-divisional hospitals and two beds each in all the primary health centres.

Prescribed processing fee in blood centers

DDC said that 14 patients are admitted in PMCH and seven in NMCH. The processing fee for patients admitted to private hospitals by government blood centers is fixed. It is Rs 400 for Platelet Concentrate (RDP) and Rs 7500 for Apheresis (SDP). Maximum processing fee is also fixed by private blood centres. It is Rs 400 for Platelet Concentrate (RDP) and Rs 11000 for Apheresis (SDP).

Number of patients affected by dengue 254

District Vector Borne Disease Control Officer Dr. Subhash Chandra Prasad said that the number of patients affected by dengue is 254. Doctors of the private hospital said that they have adequate availability of beds.

Establishment of dengue control room

On the instructions of the DM, a dengue control room has been established by the Civil Surgeon. Personnel have been deputed in three shifts to attend the telephone number 0612-2951964 in the control room. On this, people can get information related to hospitalization, availability of beds, requirement of blood, availability of platelets in the blood bank etc. Along with this, 28 filariasis workers have been deputed in various areas of the Municipal Corporation. State Surveillance Officer Dr Ranjit Kumar, Civil Surgeon Dr Shravan Kumar, District Vector Borne Disease Control Officer Dr Subhash Chandra Prasad, DPM Health Dr Vivek Kumar Singh, IDSP officer Prashant Kumar and representatives of Mahavir Cancer Institute and other hospitals were present in the meeting.

  • Install nets/curtains on the doors and windows of houses.
