Water released from Hathini Kund Barrage
The reason for the increase in the water level of Yamuna river is the release of water from Hathinikund Barrage in Haryana. The flow of water at Hathini Kund barrage increased to 344035 cusecs at 10 am, which increased to 359760 cusecs at 11 am. Usually the flow rate of water at Hathini Kund barrage is 352 cusecs, but due to heavy rainfall in the catchment areas, its flow increases. One cusec is equal to 28.32 liters per second. It takes about two to three days for the water from the barrage to reach Delhi.
