Delhi News: A court in the national capital Delhi has arrested Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader K in a corruption case in connection with the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam. Kavita was sent to judicial custody on Monday till 23 April. The daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was arrested from Tihar Jail. Kavita was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), after which she was lodged in Tihar. After the expiry of the three-day police custody granted earlier by the judge, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) produced the accused in the court and sought judicial custody. K while leaving the court. Kavita said that this is not the custody of CBI, this is the custody of BJP. Whatever BJP is saying outside, CBI is asking the same from inside, it is repeatedly asking for 2 years, there is nothing new in this.
CBI told the court that there was no need to interrogate Kavita in custody. Advocate Nitesh Rana, who is representing Deepak Nagar along with Kavita, opposed the police’s application and said that there is not enough ground to keep Kavita in custody because now there is no need to keep her in custody and interrogate her. CBI officials had recently interrogated Kavita inside the jail after taking permission from a special court.
The BRS leader was questioned about WhatsApp chats found from the phone of co-accused Buchi Babu in the case and documents related to a land deal. It is alleged that Rs 100 crore was given as bribe to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the alleged change in excise policy. ED had arrested Kavita (46) from her residence in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad on March 15 and she is in judicial custody. Let us tell you that the investigation in the matter is still going on.
