The Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday held an emergency meeting of its office bearers to discuss the next course of action after several top leaders were detained in protest against the summoning of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the CBI in an excise policy matter. AAP’s Delhi unit convenor Gopal Rai presided over the meeting, which was attended by Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) mayor Shelly Oberoi, deputy mayor Aale Mohammad Iqbal, party national secretaries Pankaj Gupta and Jasmine Shah. Several senior AAP leaders were detained by the Delhi Police while they were protesting against the summoning of Kejriwal in the Excise Policy case. The detained leaders include Rajya Sabha members Sanjay Singh and Raghav Chadha, Delhi ministers Saurabh Bhardwaj, Atishi and Kailash Gehlot, AAP spokesperson Adil Ahmed Khan, party’s national secretary Pankaj Gupta and some Punjab government ministers. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who participated in the dharna on Archbishop Road, had left before the AAP leaders were taken into custody.
