Delhi Excise Policy: K Kavita in CBI custody till April 15

Delhi Excise Policy: A Delhi court today sent Bharat Rashtra Samiti leader K Kavita to CBI custody till April 15 in the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam case. Special Judge Justice Kaveri Baweja has issued this order after hearing the arguments of CBI and Kavita’s lawyer. Let us tell you that on Thursday, CBI had arrested Kavita in Tihar Jail, where she has been kept after her arrest by ED in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam.

CBI had arrested on Thursday

On Friday, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court sent BRS leader K Kavita to CBI custody. In the Delhi Excise Policy case, the court has sent BRS leader K Kavita on CBI remand till April 15. Let us tell you, K Kavita was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday. On April 5, the court had given permission to CBI to interrogate Kavita in jail.

ED arrested K Kavita on March 15

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested Kavita on March 15 in a money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam. Kavita was detained by the CBI under charges of criminal conspiracy and manipulation of accounts and some sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. CBI has arrested Kavita under IPC section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) along with section 477-A (falsification of accounts) and section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act (offences relating to giving bribe to a public servant).

CBI interrogated in jail

Earlier, after taking permission from the special court, CBI had interrogated Kavita inside the jail on Saturday. The BRS leader was questioned about WhatsApp chats and documents related to a land deal recovered from the phone of Buchi Babu, a co-accused in the case. It is alleged that Rs 100 crore was given as bribe to the Aam Aadmi Party for the alleged change in excise policy.

Kavita will be interrogated at CBI headquarters

Central investigating agency CBI has got Kavita’s remand. CBI will now take Kavita to the lockup at its headquarters and interrogate her. Earlier, ED had arrested K Kavitha from her residence in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. The ED has alleged that Vijay Nair, one of the accused, received bribes worth at least Rs 100 crore from a group called South Group on behalf of AAP leaders. Courtesy: Language Input
