Decision taken in Jharkhand cabinet, now girl students of all categories will get scholarship for engineering studies.

Ranchi: The state government will provide incentive amount to girl students to get technical education. The Cabinet agreed to the proposal to implement Manki Munda Scholarship Scheme. Under this scheme, Rs 15,000 will be provided as annual scholarship to girl students doing diploma courses from technical institutes of the state after passing 10th and Rs 30,000 will be provided to girl students studying engineering after 12th. The benefit of the scheme will be given to girl students of all categories of families with annual income less than Rs 8 lakh. A student who gets promotion with minimum 50 percent marks without failing in any subject will be eligible for scholarship. Benefit of the scheme: Girl students will also be provided incentive amount for their remaining courses from the academic session 2023-24. Scholarship will be provided to 3,000 girl students for diploma course and 1,200 girl students for engineering every year.

NGOs will run the hostels of the welfare department

 The Council of Ministers agreed to the plan for construction, operation and management of hostels of the Welfare Department with the help of non-government institutions. For this, approval was given for the formation of Jharkhand Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Backward Caste, Minority Hostel Nutrition Scheme 24. Under this, the selected NGOs will take full responsibility for the maintenance and operation of the hostels. Apart from being the cook and guard, they will also be responsible for housekeeping in the hostels.

Interest subsidy for farmers increased to four percent

The Cabinet approved the proposal to give one percent additional rebate in the rate of interest subsidy on agricultural loans. Earlier, farmers were given three percent interest subsidy if they returned the loan amount within one year. Now it has been increased to four percent. Approval was given to implement a plan of Rs 25 crore under this head for the financial year 2023-24.

AP Singh becomes Chairman of Finance Commission

The Cabinet agreed to the formation of the Fifth State Finance Commission. Retired IAS officer Amreshwar Pratap Singh has been made the chairman of the commission. Whereas, Prof. Harishwar Dayal of St. Xavier’s College and Director of Panchayati Raj will be the members of the commission.
