Golden history of Darbhanga Medical College

Speaking on Darbhanga’s contribution to the medical sector, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that when we were MPs and whenever we went out, we used to find PMCH and DMCH doctors everywhere. That’s why when there was talk of another AIIMS in Bihar, we chose Darbhanga. He said that Shobhan is a very good place to establish AIIMS in Darbhanga, which we have identified. There is better connectivity for transportation, where people can reach easily. With the construction of AIIMS in Shobhan, Darbhanga city will also expand.

Super specialty hospital is ready

Talking to journalists, the Chief Minister said that we are further expanding Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital. A hospital with 400 beds is already built in it. When a hospital with 2500 beds will be built here, treatment will be better and medical education will also be better. This is also a very important place, hence the number of students studying in this medical college will increase further. Super specialty hospital is also ready.

No hurdles for AIIMS now

He said that we first wanted to convert DMCH into AIIMS. The people of the center had agreed earlier but later due to some reason the bus could not be made. In January, we were shown the site for building Darbhanga AIIMS. Now approval has come from the Center to build AIIMS in Shobhan. The Central Government has been asked to increase the height of Darbhanga AIIMS which was already fixed, we are increasing it further. Four lanes are also being constructed, this will expand the city considerably. After Patna, the second AIIMS in Bihar will be built in Darbhanga for which land has been identified in Shobhan.
