India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the deep pressure area over the Bay of Bengal moved northwards at a speed of 14 kilometers per hour during the last six hours and turned into a cyclonic storm. He said that at 5.30 pm on Monday, this low pressure system was located about 230 km away from Paradip coast of Odisha, 360 km south of Digha in West Bengal and 510 km south-southwest of Khepupara in Bangladesh. IMD said that it is likely to turn into an intense cyclonic storm over the north-western Bay of Bengal during the next 12 hours.
