Cyber criminals wreak havoc on pensioners of Bihar, more than one million data stolen, alert sent to many states

Shubham Kumar, Patna. If you are a pensioner of Central and State Government then be careful. Cyber crime criminals have stolen complete data of pensioners of many states. Regarding this, the police of many states have issued a formal letter and issued an alert. Not only this, in many states the main branch of SBI has also alerted pensioners to protect themselves from fraud. According to EOU SP Sushil Kumar, there are more than ten lakh pensioners in Bihar.

steal this information

Cyber miscreants are calling pension holders to update life certificate online. They have complete data of pension holders like appointment date, retirement date, PPO number (Pensioner Payment Order Number), Aadhaar card number, permanent address, email ID, amount received on retirement, monthly pension nominee etc. . Cyber criminals keep complete details of whoever they call so that they can be sure that the caller is an employee of the Pension Directorate. After this, the pensioner can easily be made a victim of fraud.

Asking for OTP in the name of updating life certificate

The fraudsters ask pension holders to share their OTP to update their life certificate giving complete data. Once the pensioner shares the OTP received on the phone, the fraudsters get direct access control of the pensioner’s bank account. After this, they immediately transfer the entire amount deposited in the pension holder’s account to other fake bank accounts” or ”wallets”. Police of different states have issued an alert regarding this.

Pension Directorate never updates life certificate online.

According to the information, Pension Directorate never calls any pension holder to update their life certificate online nor does it update the life certificate online. In the alert issued, pensioners were told to personally go to the Pension Directorate to get their life certificate updated. In this way, avoid fake calls. SP Sushil Kumar of Economic Offenses Unit said that many cases of cheating of pensioners have been received, which are being resolved. A separate awareness campaign will be run to make pensioners aware. To make pensioners aware, EOU has issued an alert.
