Jaideep Singh, general manager (South Asia), Kaspersky, said the company’s studies have found that India consistently ranks among the top 12 targeted countries and regions for advanced partner threats (APTs). Singh said, file encryption has been the top problem facing enterprises and organizations across the world and in India for three consecutive years.
From basic ransomware attacks like WannaCry in 2017, we have moved into the era of Ransomware 3.0, where we see a triple attack of knocking out targeted devices, reselling data, and public blackmailing.
He said, this form of attack has a huge impact on the financial and reputational aspect of Indian companies. Kaspersky claims to have detected more than two lakh ransomware attacks on businesses in the country in the year 2023.
