Sasaram. It has been raining heavily in Rohtas district for the last four days. Now rain has become a problem for Durgavati Dam. Due to rain, the water level in Durgavati Dam is increasing. As the level of water in the dam is increasing, the water from the dam is being discharged into the Durgavati river. Due to the discharge water from the dam, Durgavati river is flowing above the danger mark. Due to increased water level in the dam, cracks have appeared in the parapet. If it continues to rain like this, then the Durgavati river can wreak havoc on people with floods at night.

Many stairs built in the dam collapsed

Due to rising water level, many stairs built in the dam have collapsed. The news of cracks in the parapet between chain numbers seven and eight of the dam has created a stir among the officials of the Irrigation Department. The water of the river has reached near the villages Karanpura, Malhar and Telari situated on the banks of the river. Perhaps if the rain continues like this, there is a possibility of water entering the village. In this regard, the executive engineer of the department said that at present about three thousand cusecs of water is being released. Because the excess water coming from behind the dam will be released into the river through the main gate of the dam. Durgavati reservoir has water equal to the label. Water is rising from behind. In that situation water will be released. For the safety of the dam, 121 meters of water has to be stored. At present there is water in 122.9 meter Label Dam.

Had the department remained alert, there would have been no raincut.

Four consecutive days of rain has exposed the officials of Durgavati Reservoir Project. Water label increased. Then it started raining. According to the information, there is a provision to keep sand in sacks near the dam before the arrival of rain to prevent rain. But, the rain passed. The process of tender for sand and bags of Irrigation Department is going on. No arrangements have been made by the Water Resources Department officials for protection from rainwater. Due to this, raincoat has also become a separate problem in the rainy season.
