Cows affected by lumpy virus in Deoria and Kushinagar, adopt these measures to prevent infection

Gorakhpur: The infection of lumpy disease is spreading among animals in many districts of Purvanchal including Gorakhpur, Deoria, Kushinagar, Maharajganj. Vaccination is being done by the Animal Husbandry Department to prevent chronic infection. Today on Saturday, Milk Commissioner Shashi Bhushan Lal Sushil visited the village and took information about the outbreak of Lumpi infection. Before this, he talked to the officials at the Milk Commissionerate and took various information.

Dr. Vijay Kumar, Joint Maruti of the Animal Husbandry Department of the Government of India, held a meeting with the Rapid Response Team at Vikas Bhawan Auditorium on Monday and gave them necessary guidelines for its rescue. Infections of lumpy disease are more in Kushinagar and Deoria districts of Gorakhpur division. Chief Veterinary Officer of the district, Dr. GK Singh said that lumpy infection is a viral disease. It gets cured automatically. Just as there is no medicine for smallpox, similar is the situation with lumpy infection.

Maintaining cleanliness is very important in lumpy disease. Animals suffering from chronic disease have to be kept separate from other animals. He told that animals infected with this disease should never be injected and the medicine should be given orally only. He told that the animals affected by this should be given good fodder, grains, water, liver tonic and calcium. This will increase immunity. There is no need to panic if the animal is affected by lumpy infection. He told that the death rate of animals due to this disease is very low.

Lambi disease is an infectious disease caused by a virus. This disease is caused by the bites of flies, ticks and mosquitoes in animals. Animals infected with this disease develop mild fever. Lumps appear at various places all over the body. The mortality rate of animals suffering from this disease is estimated to be one to five percent.

The number of animals showing symptoms of Lumpi disease in the district is 252. Of these, 97 animals have recovered. Treatment of 155 animals is going on. So far, 25 thousand vaccines have been given to animals in the district. 50 thousand more vaccines have been received. A demand has been made for one and a half lakh more ticks.

Symptoms of lumpy disease

  • The body temperature of animals should be 106 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Animals have less appetite.

  • Swelling in the legs of animals, lameness, reduced working capacity in male animals.

  • Round raised lumps all over the body including the face, neck, snout, eyelids of animals.

To avoid infection, feed any one of Amla, Ashwagandha, Giloy and Mulethi in the quantity of 20 grams by making laddus in the morning and evening. Mix a handful of basil leaves, 5 grams of cinnamon, 5 grams of dry ginger powder, 10 pieces of black pepper and feed it in the morning and evening.

To prevent infection, put dried leaves of Google, Camphor, Neem and Frankincense in a dung heap in the animal enclosure and pray in the morning and evening. For bathing animals, use a handful of neem strip paste and 100 grams of alum mixed in 25 liters of water. After bathing the animals, bathe them with plain water.

Treatment of lumpy disease

If an animal has been infected with Lumpi disease, then it should be given one handful of neem leaves, one handful of basil strips, 10 cloves of garlic, 10 cloves of chilli, 10 pieces of cumin, 15 grams of turmeric powder, 10 grams of betel leaves, five Grind two pieces of small onion, mix it with jaggery and drink it in the morning and evening for 10 to 15 days.

If any animal falls ill, contact the nearest veterinary hospital and get it treated. Under no circumstances do any treatment on your own without consulting a veterinarian. To prevent lumpy skin disease, animal husbandry workers are running a campaign and vaccinating cattle free of cost.
