Cost increased by Rs 4.52 lakh crore due to Centre’s 411 projects not being completed on time

Central government It is monitoring 1788 projects worth Rs 150 crore and above. The original cost of these schemes was estimated at Rs 2478446 lakh crore and the estimated cost was Rs 2909526 crore. But due to delay in implementation of the schemes, its cost has increased by more than Rs 4.31 lakh crore.

Cost increase by Rs 3.39 lakh crore due to delay in 837 projects

Out of 1788 projects of the government, the cost of 411 projects has increased by more than Rs 4.52 lakh crore, whereas the original cost of such projects was estimated at Rs 6.95 lakh crore and the estimated cost was Rs 11.47 lakh crore. According to the Union Statistics Ministry, due to delays in 837 projects, the cost increased by Rs 3.39 lakh crore, while the original cost of these projects was Rs 13.61 lakh crore and the estimated cost was Rs 17 lakh crore. Out of 837 pending projects, 330 projects are pending for more than three years.

Due to pending in Water Resources Department, the cost of the project exceeds Rs 46234 crore.

Due to non-completion of projects on time, the cost of railway projects has increased. The original cost of 247 projects in Railways is Rs 404609 lakh crore and the estimated cost is Rs 614279.6 lakh crore. But due to delay it has increased by more than Rs 2.4 lakh crore. This information was given by Union Statistics, Program Implementation and Planning Minister Rao Inderjit Singh in response to a question asked by BJP MP Sushil Kumar Modi in Rajya Sabha.
