Ghaziabad : In Ghaziabad, UP, the Kavinagar police has disclosed the case of conversion of youth on the online gaming app. Abdul Rehman alias Nanni, a former member of the mosque committee, has been arrested in the mosque where the minor son of the Jain family used to go to offer Namaz 5 times on the pretext of going to the gym. It has been revealed in the revelations that such a gang was active, which used to recite verses of Quran to win online games.

Then he used to convert them by brainwashing. Evidence related to conversion has also been found from the mobile of the accused. This gang of religious conversion is operating from Mumbai. Its main accused is Baddo alias Khan Shahnawaz Maqsood, who is a resident of Mumbai.

Minor son of Jain family used to read Namaz

A person resident of Rajnagar had lodged an FIR on May 30 under the UP Prohibition of Unlawful Religion Conversion Act-2021 against the Maulvi of Sanjaynagar Sector-23 mosque in Kavi Nagar police station and a person named BADDO, a resident of Mumbai. According to the victim’s father, ‘My minor son has been behaving strangely with the family for some time now. He used to leave the house saying that he would go to the gym five times and would come back after several hours.

When I got suspicious, I followed him, then came to know that he goes to the mosque of Sanjay Nagar Sector-23 to offer Namaz. Seeing this, the ground slipped under my feet. I again talked to my son about this. He described Islam as better than other religions and said that he has accepted Islam from his heart. When I checked my son’s mobile-laptop, I found a lot of materials related to the religion of Islam.

Who is Abdul Rahman?

The police has arrested an accused named Abdul Rehman in this case. Police claim that he was formerly a member of the mosque committee of Sanjaynagar Sector-23. It was thrown out of the committee two months ago. Originally a resident of Ballia. During interrogation, Abdul Rehman told that he used to tell non-Muslim boys about Islam. In this sequence, he was identified with two minor boys a year ago.

In this one was Jain and the other was Hindu. He instigated both the teenagers by saying that Islam is paramount. He was impressed by his words and had also started offering Namaz. But the Jain family came to know about it. Due to the fear of getting caught, the accused deleted all the history and chats of his mobile.

DCP Nagar Nipun Agarwal said that so far in the investigation, the matter of attracting four teenagers towards Islam has come to the fore. Two of these are teenagers from Ghaziabad and one is from Chandigarh and one from Faridabad. During interrogation with the police in this case, it was revealed from the three victim children that there were three steps of conversion.

In the first step, such a gang was active which used to play games on Fort Nite app on mobile-computer by creating IDs in the name of Muslims or other religions. If some boys used to lose the game, they were made to read the verse of Quran and then by winning the game, the trust of Quran was established.

In the second step, through the Discord App, Muslim boys used to chat with Hindu boys by creating a user ID named Hindu. They used to coax them to adopt Islamic customs.

In the third step, he used to listen to some video speeches of banned Islamic spokesperson Zakir Naik and motivate him to adopt Islam. Along with this, he used to provide all the information regarding Islamic culture and customs.

Police left for Maharashtra to catch Shahnawaz

The minor boy of the Jain family who contacted a person named BADDO from Mumbai online, has been originally identified as Khan Shahnawaz Maqsood. He is a resident of Thane in Maharashtra. A team of Ghaziabad police has left for Maharashtra to nab Shahnawaz. IB and ATS are also involved in the investigation in the case.
