Congress UP Jodo Yatra: Forgetting the recent defeat in the Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh assembly elections in the country, Congress has now started preparations for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. In the hope of something better in Uttar Pradesh, which has 80 Lok Sabha seats, the party is going to start the UP Jodo Yatra from Wednesday. Party leaders claim that through this yatra, Congress will once again give a strong performance in the Lok Sabha elections, through which the Indian National Democratic Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) will be successful in forming the government at the Centre. Through this yatra, Congress will try to reconnect its old voters in UP, those voters who have been moving away from it election after election and are now giving their votes to different parties. Congress will be seen giving edge to vote bank politics through UP Jodo Yatra. State party president Ajay Rai is going to organize the biggest program till date after taking charge. Both the success and failure of UP Jodo Yatra will be considered important from the point of view of his tenure. Ajay Rai has tried his best to resolve religious and caste equations through this journey, so that the party can help in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
Purpose of starting the journey from Western UP
Religious and caste equations are also considered to be an important reason behind starting the Congress UP Jodo Yatra from Saharanpur district of Western UP. While there are many powerful leaders of Congress in these districts, on the other side there is the famous Shakumbhari Devi. From here the yatra will rest for the night at Gangoh in this district. In Gangoh, there is the holy place of Baba Haridas and Hazrat Kutbe Alam, who gave the message of harmony and love. There are also political reasons behind the plan to hold street meetings during the yatra at places named after various great men including Chaudhary Charan Singh Chowk, Ambedkar Park, Gandhi Chowk, Patel Park. The important thing is that the stage management and chairmanship at these places has been handed over to senior people of the respective community, so that a strong message is sent at the local level that Congress takes every section along.
Nukkad meetings will be organized at 161 places
Congress’s UP Jodo Yatra is going to start from Saharanpur on Wednesday. State President Ajay Rai will start the journey by having darshan of Maa Shakumbhari. Hundreds of leaders from across the state will remain with him continuously. Apart from this, people from the respective districts will also join. In this journey which will last for about 18 days, street meetings will be organized at 161 places. Its preparations have been completed. Senior leaders of the party have already camped at different places for the yatra. The 307 people accompanying the state president include members of the state executive, district presidents of various districts, former MPs, former MLAs etc. For this, the concerned people have been duly enrolled in the state office.
Yatra may reach later than scheduled time in Lucknow
According to Congress leaders, Congress’ UP Jodo Yatra will prove to be very important in protest against the policies of the BJP government. Through this the party will be successful in conveying its message to more and more people. This journey starting from Saharanpur will pass through various districts and reach Lucknow after 18 days. Congress General Secretary (Organization) Anil Yadav said that there is a demand to conduct the Yatra for more and more days in every district. In such a situation, the number of programs can be increased in Rampur, Moradabad, Lakhimpur and Sitapur. There is a possibility that this journey may reach Lucknow one to two days late than the scheduled time. The yatra will be postponed on 28th December, the foundation day of Congress. A different atmosphere is being seen from party workers to the general public regarding UP Jodo Yatra.
Attempt to create an atmosphere against BJP’s policies
According to Congress state president Ajay Rai, the purpose of UP Jodo Yatra is to bring awareness among the public about the wrong policies of BJP. They will be told how the BJP government is capturing various constitutional institutions. He said that people from every district will participate in this peaceful yatra. At many places, the administration is showing reluctance in allowing the yatra. But, Congress people will not back down, the yatra will take place on the decided route. Party workers are very excited.
UP Jodo Yatra will pass through these districts

The yatra will start from the darshan of Shakubhari Devi in Saharanpur on 20th December and will reach Qureshan Chowk. From here, she reached the meeting place via Saharanpur bus stand and will rest there.

The yatra will start from Asgaraya Madrasa in Saharanpur on 21st December and will rest at Gopali for the night after holding meetings at 17 places.
