Commercial vehicles older than 15 years will no longer ply in Gaya and Muzaffarpur, Cabinet approved the proposal

Patna. In two cities of Bihar, now 15 years old commercial vehicles will not ply. The state cabinet headed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has approved the proposal to ban on Tuesday. After the approval of the proposal from the Cabinet, now the way has been cleared to ban the operation of commercial vehicles which are more than 15 years old in Gaya and Muzaffarpur Municipal Corporation area. The cabinet approved the proposal of the Transport Department today. By the way, this law will be effective from October 1.

Diesel driven tempos will also not run from September 30

According to the proposal of the Transport Department, this decision has been taken in view of increasing pollution. From October 1, 2023, even fifteen year old commercial vehicles will not ply in these two municipal corporation areas. Along with this, operation of all types of diesel powered three wheelers in Gaya and Muzaffarpur Municipal Corporation area has been banned from 30 September 2023. That means even diesel driven tempos will not run in these two cities from 30th September. Bihar government has extended the term of Clean Fuel Scheme 2019 till 31 March 2024. With this, its area will now be Patna as well as Gaya and Muzaffarpur. Provision of grant has been made for three wheeler goods vehicles.

Many cities of Bihar in top polluted cities

In terms of air pollution, Patna and other cities of Bihar remain at the top in the country. The team of air pollution experts of IIT Kanpur has collected samples from many cities in the past. The contribution of heavy traffic has been examined by the experts. After Patna, samples have been taken from Muzaffarpur, Gaya and Hajipur. On the other hand, 650 low cost air quality level monitoring machines are being installed in all the districts of the state to check air pollution. The reason for pollution will be searched in all the districts of the state including Patna. It has been started from Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
