Significantly, nine people died in Viluppuram and five in Chengalpattu in the state after consuming spurious liquor. Police said that people who fell ill after drinking spurious liquor were admitted to the government hospital, where three of them died on Saturday. Declaration of Compensation: At the same time, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the incident. Opposition targeted the government: Here, after the incident, the general secretary of the opposition AIADMK and leader of the opposition K Palaniswami said that there was no place for illegal liquor in the ten-year rule led by his party. He blamed the ruling DMK government for the incident. In a tweet, he said that at least now steps should be taken against illegal liquor. At the same time, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder Dr. S. Ramdas has also demanded action against the officials concerned for the sale of spurious liquor.
