Teesta water level suddenly increased

A sudden cloudburst over Lhonak Lake in North Sikkim on Wednesday morning caused a flash flood in Teesta river in Lachen valley, due to which 23 army personnel were washed away and their camp and vehicle got stuck in the mud. Due to that water flow, the water level of Teesta increased by 15-20 feet in a single moment. Due to which there is a fear that Teesta in North Bengal may impact the surrounding districts as well. Meanwhile, due to continuous low pressure rains, water has started accumulating in various areas of the state. DVC has released water to save the dam.

Chief Minister held an important meeting

State Chief Secretary Harikrishna Dwivedi and Special Advisor to the Chief Minister Alapan Banerjee held a meeting with Nabanna and the secretaries of other departments of Nabanna by putting them on phone speaker.
