Aspirational districts were left behind in the mainstream of development

CM Yogi Adityanath said that in 2018, NITI Aayog had selected 112 districts of the country as aspirational districts. Eight districts of Uttar Pradesh, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Chandauli, Sonbhadra, Chitrakoot and Fatehpur were included in these. These were the districts which were left behind from the main stream of development.

All the 8 districts of Uttar Pradesh were also at the most backward position in the list of 112 aspirational districts of the country. These districts were backward in the fields of education, health, agriculture and water resources, employment, skill development, financial inclusion and infrastructure.
