When there is talk of the glory of Chhath, the Tretayuga Sun Temple of Lord Surya located at Surya Nagari Dev is definitely discussed. It is believed that the Sun Temple here and the sacred Suryakund pond located near it have been the center of faith for more than 1.5 lakh years. Till now lakhs of Chhath fasting people have reached Dev and offered Arghya to Lord Sun.

Dev Surya Temple is about 100 feet high

As far as the construction of the temple is concerned, it is still an unsolved puzzle. By the way, this is the only west facing Sun temple in the world, whose architecture is unmatched. It is similar to the temple of Konark. Dev Surya Temple is about 100 feet high. It is made of unique craftsmanship of black and brown stones. It is believed that this temple was built by Lord Vishwakarma himself in Treta Yuga. According to the inscription outside the temple, the temple was built by Ila’s son Pururava Ail after 12 lakh 16 thousand years of Treta Yuga had passed.

One lakh 50 thousand 22 years of construction period of the mythological temple completed

The inscription also shows that in 2023, one lakh 50 thousand 22 years of construction of this mythological temple have been completed. By the way, some people of Aurangabad district also know it as Vishwakarma Temple. Many legends are prevalent regarding the construction of the temple. Some consider its construction period to be Tretayuga, while others relate it to Dwapar period. Some say it was built by Ila son of Ail Raja. Chhath fast has a different significance in Dev. There is also a legend that in the Surya Kund here, along with Goddess Aditi, Mother Sita, Draupadi, many other gods and goddesses worshiped Chhath and offered water to Lord Sun. The importance of this holy place is not only in the country but also in foreign countries.

Where is Dev Surya Temple?

Dev Surya Temple is in a village named Dev in Aurangabad district of Bihar. This is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Surya. Like other temples, it is not east-facing but west-facing, that is, it is in the west direction. It is believed that this temple was built by Goddess Aditi herself. Aditi is the mother of the gods, that is, she is also the mother of the Sun God. Apart from this, it is told in the stories that by worshiping Chhathi Maiya here, Mother Aditi had found Lord Aditya in the trinity form.
