Chardham Yatra: Chardham Yatra starts from today, the doors of Gangotri, Yamunotri will open at this time

With the opening of the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri temples on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya after a gap of about six months. Chardham Yatra will start. After Havan and Vedic chanting, the doors of Gangotri will open at 12:35 on Saturday afternoon, while the doors of Yamunotri will open at 12:41. Devotees have started arriving in both the dhams. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off the buses of devotees going on this holy journey on Friday.

The doors of Kedarnath will open on April 25.

Out of the Chardhams of the Garhwal Himalayas, two other Dhams, the doors of Kedarnath will open on April 25 and the doors of Badrinath on April 27. In the ‘Rishikesh to Chardham Yatra – 2023’ program organized in Rishikesh, Chief Minister Dhami welcomed the devotees by garlanding them and prayed to the deities of the four dhams- Baba Kedar, Badrivishal, Maa Gangotri and Maa Yamunotri for the Yatra like last year. Prayed for a grand and efficient completion.

This year around 16 lakh people registered for the yatra

So far this year, 16 lakh people have registered for the yatra and the government will ensure that the journey of every devotee is smooth and 100% safe. A record more than 47 lakh devotees came in the Chardham Yatra, which started fully last year after a gap of two years due to Kovid-19. The state government is expecting this number to increase further this time.

Dhami withdraws decision to keep daily limit of Chardham devotees

On the eve of the commencement of the Chardham Yatra, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has withdrawn his decision to fix the maximum daily number of visitors to the Himalayan shrines. The state government had earlier decided to cap the maximum daily number of pilgrims at the four Himalayan shrines of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri, but pilgrimage priests and tour operators were pressurizing it to withdraw the decision.
