Char Dham Yatra 2023: 119 pilgrims died within 45 days, know the reason

Dehradun: Within the first 45 days of the Char Dham Yatra that began in Uttarakhand from April 22, 119 pilgrims from across the country have died. Of these, 58 pilgrims have died during the Kedarnath Yatra. Bad weather, severe cold, heart attack and many other diseases are said to be the reason behind the death of all of them. This time in the Char Dham Yatra, it is getting cold. Not only this, heavy snowfall has also been recorded this year as soon as the Yatra opens. Passengers have faced a lot of difficulties in traveling due to snowfall. According to the information that has come to the fore, about 20 lakh pilgrims have visited the religious places so far. On the other hand, about 2.1 lakh pilgrims have received the treatment provided by the Health Department.

Respiratory disease with heart attack became the cause of death

Along with severe cold, heart attack and respiratory diseases are said to be the main reasons for these deaths. Let us tell you that 634 pilgrims have been injured so far on the Kedarnath walking path. Not only here, till now 19 horses and mules have also died due to slipping and falling. 470 pilgrims were also injured on the Yamunotri footpath, while 21 horses and mules were killed. Most of them died due to disease. If we talk about Hemkund Sahib pedestrian path, then more than 20 pilgrims have been injured due to slipping and coming under the grip of iceberg. According to media reports, a woman pilgrim has died after coming under the grip of an iceberg.

According to media reports, most of the passengers killed during the pilgrimage were from Bengal, Maharashtra, UP, MP and Gujarat. At the same time, according to a report, more than 2500 passengers were provided oxygen service due to difficulty in breathing.
