Chaitra Navratri 6 Day: Katyayani form of Mother Goddess is worshiped on the sixth day of Navratri. On the sixth day of Navratri, Maa Katyayani, the sixth Shakti of Maa Durga, is worshiped. Mother Katyayani will be worshiped on Sunday, April 14, 2024, the sixth day of Chaitra Navratri. This form of Maa Durga was incarnated as the daughter of sage Katyayan, hence she is called Mata Katyayani. Mother Katyayani is very fond of offering honey and yellow colour.
What is the nature of mother?
The body of Mother Katyayani is as shiny as gold. Mother Katyayani is four-armed, riding on a lion, holding a lotus, a sword in her left hand and Swastika and a blessing gesture in her right hand. The four arms of Mother Katyayani are decorated with weapons. There is a belief of wearing yellow colored clothes in the worship of Mother Katyayani. It is a religious belief that Mother Katyayani is very fond of offering honey and yellow colour. Mother Katyayani becomes happy by offering honey.

Why was mother named Katyayani
According to mythology, Mother Katyayani had killed Mahishasura. Because of killing Mahishasura, she is called Mahisasurmardini, the goddess who destroys demons, demons and sinners. According to the Puranas, this form of Goddess Durga was named Katyayani because she was born as the daughter of sage Katyayana.

Method of worship of Maa Katyayani
Worship the Katyayani form of Maa Durga on the sixth day of Navratri. After taking bath in the morning, wear yellow colored clothes. Purify the temple or place of worship with Ganga water. Before starting the puja, remember the mother and take a resolution with flowers in your hand. Offer flowers to mother. After this, offer kumkum, akshat, flowers etc. and sixteen adornments. Then offer the favorite food like honey, sweets etc. to Mother Katyayani. Light a lamp of desi ghee and perform the aarti of Mata.

By worshiping Mother Katyayani, diseases, grief, suffering and fear go away. Along with this, worshiping them increases the chances of early marriage. Those people whose marriage is getting delayed, should offer three lumps of turmeric to Maa Katyayani on the evening of the sixth day of Chaitra Navratri for early marriage or love related matters. Offering yellow flowers to get a suitable groom, ‘Om Katyayani Mahamaye Mahayoginyadhishwari. Nand Gop Sutam Dehi Patin Mein Kurute Namah.’ Chant the mantra 108 times. By doing this there will be chances of marriage.
