Central forces can be kept in the state for another four weeks or not, High Court seeks answer from Central Government

Kolkata, Amar Shakti : Since the announcement of Panchayat elections, violence has continued in various districts of the state. Panchayat elections have also been held now, but despite this the incidents of violence have not reduced. In such a situation, the Calcutta High Court has asked the Central Government that given the situation in the state, whether the central forces can be kept here for another four weeks or not. A division bench of Calcutta High Court Chief Justice TS Sivagnanam and Justice Hiranmoy Bhattacharya has sought an answer from the central government in this regard. During the hearing of the case, the advocates of the petitioners said in the court that incidents of violence are still happening in many parts of the state, in such a situation, if the Central Security Force leaves from here, then a problem will arise.

The term of keeping the central security force ends on July 22.

It is worth mentioning that earlier the division bench of the Chief Justice of the High Court had ordered to keep the central security force for the next 10 days after the counting of the panchayat elections, which period is ending on 22 July. Now the central government will decide whether the central security forces can be kept here or not. That’s why the High Court has sought an answer from the Central Government in this regard. It has been told that the central government will give its answer in this regard on Monday.

Information about sensitive booths received after the election

At the same time, according to the information received from the sources of the High Court, the IG of BSF was appointed as the nodal officer for the deployment of central security forces for the panchayat elections. The nodal officer submitted an affidavit in the High Court on Friday that three days after the end of the panchayat elections, he was informed about the sensitive booths. There were panchayat elections in the state on 8th July and on 11th July they were given a letter that 4876 booths are sensitive during the panchayat elections.
