Case of lawyer’s eye being gouged out in Muzaffarpur, now Human Rights Commission will investigate the case

Muzaffarpur. The case of an advocate losing his eyesight due to baton being hit by a constable at Power House Chowk of Kazimohammedpur police station has now reached the Human Rights Commission. The victim advocate has filed a petition in the National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi and Bihar State Human Rights Commission, Patna, through human rights advocate SK Jha. After this the matter reached the Human Rights Commission. Human rights advocate SK Jha said that this entire episode is a very serious category of human rights violation. The Human Rights Commission will now investigate this matter. He has demanded an investigation into the entire incident and strict action should be taken against the guilty police personnel.

The attack took place during vehicle checking

On February 7, advocate Pankaj Kumar was returning from Patna to his residence in Muzaffarpur at around 11:40 pm, when the policemen of Kazimohammedpur police station already present at Power House Chowk were standing to check the vehicle. His car was stopped by policemen and he was asked where he was coming from. Before the advocate could say anything, a policeman fired his baton. Due to which his eye got injured. He fell on the ground groaning in pain. After which all the policemen ran away from there.

Treatment is going on in Kolkata

With the help of local people, he was immediately admitted to the Trauma Center of Durgashankar Hospital. After that he was treated by ASG. Happened in the hospital. Then it came to light that one of his eyes was broken. After that he was admitted to SKMCH. Seeing the serious condition of his eyes there, the doctors asked him to go to IGIMS, Patna or Shankar Netralaya. Presently he is undergoing eye treatment at Shankar Nethralaya Kolkata.

Here, in Muzaffarpur, constable Rohit Kumar has been suspended in the case of lathicharge on an advocate. During vehicle checking, the constable used his baton to stop the advocate’s car. The advocate was sitting on the driving seat, the glass was open. Due to this the stick hit the advocate in the eye. Blood started coming out of his eyes. Seeing this the policemen fled from the spot. Considering the seriousness of the case, the SSP of Muzaffarpur district has suspended the accused constable from service.
