During the hearing of the case before the bench of Justice Joy Sengupta on Friday, the Centre’s Additional Solicitor General told the court that he has informed the Union Home Ministry about the High Court order through a letter. But no reply came to that letter. Hearing this, the judge commented that it was unfortunate that the Union Home Ministry showed no interest in implementing the High Court order. After this he directly ordered an NIA investigation.

In May last year, BJP booth committee president Vijaykrishna Bhuyan (60) was accused of murder by Trinamool-supported miscreants. It is alleged that some miscreants started beating Vijaykrishna, a resident of Goramahal area of Bakcha Panchayat, and in an attempt to stop them, Vijay’s wife Lakshmi and son Surjeet were also attacked. Later, Vijay’s bloody body was recovered from the pond near the house. Vijay’s wife has filed a written complaint against 34 local Trinamool leaders and workers at Mayna police station. Three people were arrested. Two of these are grassroots level workers. He is also a resident of Goramahal village.
