Hearing of the case related to appointment of headmasters in primary schools in West Bengal Calcutta High Court Held in the bench of Justice Mantha. During the hearing there, the judge asked the State and District Primary School Member of Parliament (DPSC) why counseling is not done regarding the posting of headmasters in some districts. The state does not have any policy in this regard. The judge said, “Do you give posting to oil masseurs in the school of your choice? After this the plaintiff can demand posting near home but is this possible? Do you have to work according to any special rules? Where is that rule? DPSC could not give any answer to the judge’s question.

Teachers were appointed near their homes

Incidentally, a case was filed in the High Court regarding the appointment and posting of headmasters in two divisions of Purba Medinipur district. Seven teachers had approached the court in this regard. His lawyers told the court that a panel was formed to appoint principals, but they were not consulted. All the teachers associated with the Trinamool Teachers Organization have been appointed near their homes and this process was completed with the intervention of some political personalities.

The case will be heard again in the High Court on December 18.

After hearing this statement of the plaintiffs, Justice Mantha wanted to know, counseling is being done in Howrah, Bankura, North 24 Parganas. But why is this not happening in East Medinipur? The judge has also raised questions on the policy regarding appointment of head teachers in the state. He said, “There is a rule of 2016 in this regard. But nothing specific has been mentioned about counseling or posting. As a result, unchecked power over posting has concentrated in the hands of district primary school boards. After this comment, on Tuesday the High Court directed that even if there is a vacancy in the appointment of head teachers, now appointments cannot be made there. States and DPSC will have to file a policy affidavit. The case will be heard again in the High Court on December 18.
