BSF seized gold worth Rs 3.05 crore in Bengal

A BSF official said that on Monday, while checking the passengers with metal detector at the Integrated Check Post (ICP) Petrapole, the soldiers of 145th Battalion of BSF detected the presence of some metal in the lower part of the body of a person coming to India from Bangladesh. got to know. With the help of doctors, the gold hidden in the form of a paste in the passenger’s rectum was taken out. The arrested accused Mohammad Ibran told that he had flown to Dhaka from Kolkata by International Airlines on March 23 with passport and business visa.

During the return journey to Dhaka, a person named Shabbir offered to smuggle gold. For this work he would have received about 10 thousand Bangladeshi currency. The gold was to be handed over to a person in Barabazar area of ​​Kolkata. However, he was caught before that. On the same day, soldiers of 68th battalion of BSF noticed the movement of a suspicious person at border post Ranghat, who had crossed into the Indian border from Bangladesh.

BSF personnel tried to catch him, but he managed to escape back to Bangladesh through the river by throwing away the cloth belt from his waist. Five gold biscuits and 19 pieces of gold bricks were found from the recovered cloth belt. The seized gold and the accused have been handed over to the Customs Department.
