Police have recovered a brown sugar making machine and about 28 kg 50 grams of opium-like brown substance. Its price is said to be around Rs 1.40 crore.

Police took action in Vashishthanagar police station area of ​​Chatra district

Police said that the Superintendent of Police of Chatra had received secret information that in a village of Vashishthanagar police station area of ​​the district, two people together were doing the business of making brown sugar from opium illegally. Based on this information, the police has formed a raid team under the leadership of DSP (Headquarters) of Chatra.

Devnandan Ganjhu and Pankaj Kumar arrested by Chatra police

The raiding team went to Rajguru village of Vashishthanagar and interrogated two people – Devnandan Ganjhu and Pankaj Kumar. During the raid, the police found 28 kg 50 grams of opium-like brown substance from their place. Besides, a machine for making brown sugar from opium was also found.

Criminals admitted – used to make drugs like brown sugar from opium

During interrogation, both the accused admitted that they were involved in the business of preparing intoxicating substance like brown sugar. After this Pankaj Kumar and Devnandan Ganjhu were arrested. Case number 28/2024 was registered against them in Vashishthanagar police station on 25 March 2024.

Some opium smugglers have stored opium in Rajguru village of Vashishthanagar police station area of ​​Chatra district. The raid was conducted under the leadership of DSP Headquarters. In the raid, 28 kg 50 grams of opium was recovered from the house of brother Devnandan Ganjhu and Pankaj Kumar. Its price is said to be Rs 1 crore 40 lakh. A case has been registered against them under Section 18(B)/28/29 of the NDPS Act. The team that conducted the raid against Pankaj and Devnandan included Chatra Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Rohit Kumar Rajwar, Police Sub Inspector Dileshwar Kumar (Police Station Incharge Vashishthanagar Police Station), Sat-149 IRB-3 Armed Forces, Havildar Uday Kumar, Constable Niranjan Kumar, Constable Dilip Kumar, Constable Ajit Kumar Mandal, Constable Mohammad Iftekhar Ansari were included.

Police said that both Devnandan Ganjhu and Pankaj Kumar are residents of Rajguru village of Vashishthanagar police station area. Both are sons of Roopnarayan Ganjhu.
